Local bands play concert for charity

Deal brings $1 mil. to UCF

UCF's College of Business Administration is now the recipient of $1 million that BB&T, one of the top financial holding companies in the country, has committed to fund the new BB&T Program of Business Ethics. According to Thomas L. Keon, Dean of the College of Business, the money will be received in increments of $100,000 per year for a period of 10 years.

If one is inclined to meet their unswerving gaze, they see the children, mirthful and joyous, despite the poverty in the background and they see the strong Chinese family dynamic.

Fine arts students hold their annual outdoor art sale

Outside the Visual Arts Building on Wednesday, UCF fine arts students sold their pottery and photography pieces that they created this semester in class and in non-curriculum artistic pursuits. Several tables lined the sidewalk, giving passing students the opportunity to view their fellow classmates' work.

Operation Christmas brings gifts to kids

More than 200 shoeboxes filled with gifts were donated Wednesday night by UCF students for Operation Christmas Child. The Pegasus Ballroom looked like Christmas in November as students arrived with gifts in hand, ready to wrap boxes and write letters while munching on Christmas cookies and sipping apple cider.

UCF alum gets 'Drunky' for a career

Tom Vann is not like most stunt people. He doesn't use the proper equipment. Instead he wears a bear suit and rides a suped-up scooter. On another regular day on the job, Vann is setting up to try and jump over two ATVs and not get seriously injured in the process.

NORML deputy director rails media coverage

"I do not at all think it's a hyperbole," Paul Armentano, the deputy director of NORML, said, "when we refer to the War on Drugs as a war on young people." Armentano spoke Wednesday night at a NORML meeting in Student Union room 218. Armentano's work is not exclusively with the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws: his writing has appeared in over 500 publications, he speaks publicly about marijuana policy and contributes regularly to Heads Magazine.

Online fee pinches wallets

As of July 1, UCF has implemented an $18 per credit hour distance-learning fee that will be charged to all students taking an online class. Although $18 might not seem like much, but for each three-credit-hour class, UCF students will have to pay an extra $54 on top of regular tuition.

Jimmy Fallon earns UCF pride

UCF students enjoyed hours of laughter at Jimmy Fallon presented by Campus Activities Board Comedy Tuesday evening at the UCF Arena. Tickets were free with a UCF student ID as long as tickets were available, and a great deal of students took advantage of the offer.
